Notts County's Jason Beardsley tells the Nottingham Evening Post just why he feels he and Matt Hamshaw can provide with a right-side to fear in League Two.

Jason Beardsley today said he and Matt Hamshaw will be the right stuff for Notts County this season.

The 19-year-old defender believes the pair have quickly formed a good partnership on the right side for the Magpies.

And he is confident they will develop an even better understanding as the League Two campaign progresses.

Beardsley played every minute of Notts' pre-season programme, after arriving at Meadow Lane on loan from Derby County.

And now he looks set to get the nod from boss Ian McParland to make the first league appearance of his career against Bradford City at Valley Parade on Saturday.

A string of accomplished displays has caught the eye of the club's supporters.

So, too, has Hamshaw since joining the club from Mansfield Town at the start of last month, scoring on his debut against Olympia Ljubljana in Germany.

Beardsley said: "It is like I have always been here.

Beardsley believes he has plenty more to offer the Magpies during his three-month loan spell than just being a defender - insisting he has a natural attacking ability.

"The gaffer likes to see me get forward," he added.

"I know the times to get forward and also the times not to get forward.

"I try to get round Hammy (Matt Hamshaw) and help him as much as I can. Obviously, he comes back to help me with the defending so I want to help him with the attacking play.

"We seem to have a good understanding and hopefully we can continue to build on that and get even better as the season goes on."
