Notts County Football Club wishes to confirm that defender Austin McCann will be leaving the Club at the end of the season.

28-year-old Austin has signed a pre-contract agreement with Scottish First Division side Dunfermline Athletic and will officially become a Pars player on 1st July 2008 when his Magpies contract expires.

'Ozzie' joined Notts County in 2006 on a two-year contract from Boston United, and the left-back has totalled up 68 appearances for the Club in that time. Out of contract on 30th June 2008, Austin has been free to talk to other clubs since the start of the New Year.

Notts Manager Ian McParland said: "With Paul Mayo and Stephen Hunt in contract for next season, who can both play at left-back, it would have been difficult to assure Austin of a regular first-team place.

"He has been a model professional since I have been with the Club and when he does move on we wish him every success."

McCann commented: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Notts County and I want to assure the fans I will be giving my all until the end of the season.

"I am determined to make sure Notts move up the table, and I'll be giving everything I have to ensure that happens."

The former Hearts, Clyde and Airdrie defender is heading back to Scotland after four seasons in England.
