Jarv: "No Relaxing"
Saturday's match-winner Ryan Jarvis has insisted Notts County will not be resting on their laurels after moving five points clear of the bottom two in League Two.
Jarvis' excellent first-half strike secured Notts' first win in five games with a 1-0 victory at home to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
The on-loan Norwich striker instead has his mind firmly focused on Saturday's trip to Wrexham and securing three important points which could secure League Two safety.
"We're not resting up just yet," said Jarvis.
"We have a massive game coming up next Saturday at Wrexham; we're not safe yet and we want to go there and try and secure our safety with a win.
"We're not sitting back and relaxing; we will be getting some good training in this week on the training pitch and then going to Wrexham in a positive frame of mind."
Jarvis' first goal in ten games could not have been more crucial, and he admitted his goal meant an awful lot for a number or reasons.
"It was an important goal," he admitted.
"I haven't scored for a while, so to score a precious goal like that meant a lot to the fans, the team and also myself personally because we really needed this win.
"I was surprised with the time I had, especially after I had a first shot blocked, and I felt I could take advantage of that by putting the ball away."
A second goal was something Notts just couldn't find despite Jarvis, Jason Lee and substitute Lawrie Dudfield all going close, and Jarvis felt the whole squad breath a massive sigh of relief at the final whistle after the Magpies head to weather a late Accrington storm.
He said: "We needed that second goal, because the last ten or fifteen minutes were quite tense. Not getting that second made it exciting didn't it!
"The Manager said at half-time we needed to go out and win the second half, because a second would have been a big relief and would have secured the win. We were aware they would come out more positive in the second half because they didn't threaten too much.
"But, when the final whistle came it felt great. It was a big sigh of relief, and we can enjoy this win and then move on to Wrexham."
Jarvis also had huge praise for the Magpies support, of whom well over 2,000 were in the Kop Stand for the first time - with the striker describing the support as 'awesome'.
"The fans were awesome," he said.
"We had great support in the Kop Stand, it looked really full and they got right behind us."
