Kevan Confident On Duo
Notts County Assistant Manager Dave Kevan is confident that Kevin Pilkington and Mike Edwards will pen new contracts in the near future.
Goalkeeper Pilkington and central defender Edwards were the only two senior players offered new deals by Manager Ian McParland last week when the retained list was announced at Meadow Lane.
Both are out of contract at the end of June, and Kevan feels both players' influential displays during the season have warranted the offer of fresh terms as the rebuilding work for next season gets well underway.
"We're very hopeful that both Kevin and Mike will sign new contracts," Kevan told nottscountyfc.co.uk.
"Both are good characters, good professionals and good footballers and we want to keep our best players.
"Both have had mixed seasons with injury, but when they have been fit they have been very, very influential for us."
The pair were offered their new contracts last Wednesday after a meeting with the management, and Kevan admits there's no timescale in place at this stage for when a decision must be made by the players.
He explained: "There is obviously perhaps some negotiating to be done with Kevin and Mike, but we remain hopeful there will be a positive outcome.
"We don't have a timescale at this moment with them."
