To celebrate a fresh start at Notts County ahead of the new season, and the fact the Magpies fans will occupy the Kop Stand for the first time since the redevelopment of Meadow Lane in 1992, a new song has been produced by Magpies fan and music composer Jimmy Willan.

The song, named '2 Pies On The Shirt' will get its first ever airing on BBC Radio Nottingham on Wednesday afternoon (23 July) at around 2:15pm on the John Holmes show and will soon be available to download and purchase online on nottscountyfc.co.uk.

Fans will also be able to hear the new song at the Notts County Open Day on Sunday (27 July).

The idea for song snowballed when Magpies fan Simon Griffin posted his adapted lyrics to Baddiel & Skinner's '3 Lions' on a fans' site messageboard a few weeks ago in his excitement for the new season.

The lyrics and idea itself caught the imagination of Notts Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes, who put the wheels in motion to get the song produced within a month.

Jimmy explained: "Simon posted the lyrics on the internet a few weeks ago, and Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes got in touch with me about the possibility of producing the song.

"I liked the idea and after contact with Simon we tweaked to the lyrics and four weeks on we're at the stage where it is ready to launch.

"It has been a great effort from a lot of people to get the song produced, and we feel it is the perfect song to celebrate the fact Notts fans have got the Kop back at last!"

Simon's whole family support the Magpies, and Simon's Dad's Uncle Tom Wall played in goal for Notts in 1932.

Simon now lives in London but comes to games when he can along with his brother and also his Mum & Dad. Simon will be behind the goal in the Kop this season along with his brother.

Remember to tune in to BBC Radio Nottingham on 103.8FM & 95.5FM on Wednesday afternoon to hear the song in full.
