McParland: "Striker Search Goes On"
Ian McParland has stressed that Greg Pearson's decision not to join the Magpies is not the end of the world.
Instead the Magpies boss is now pursuing other options as he aims to bolster his frontline ahead of the new season.
With a fortnight to go until the start of the new season, McParland is confident there will be another striker on the books by the time Notts kick off at Bradford on 9 August.
He said: "It is not the end of the world, don't get me wrong. We have other targets I am trying to get, and we just move on and pursue those options now and see where we get to.
"I'm not rushing into things for the sake of, just because we're in the market for a striker. I am not panicking.
"I have targets, and although we could use the loan system I want to bring my own player in.
"I would be happy to go with three strikers at the start of the season, because that leaves room for another one."
McParland has admitted he was disappointed in Pearson's decision to remain part-time after initially coming for talks about a potential move to Meadow Lane in the summer - and then spending three weeks training with the squad.
"I am disappointed," he said. "We talked about a figure he would be looking at to come here in the summer when he came in to talk to us, he told me a figure and I offered him that figure - and probably a little bit more.
"But, he has opted to remain part-time and continue in his studies at University to become a Physio.
"We made him a good offer considering he is untried at this level, and I like I said yesterday if he was progressing well we would have offered him a new deal at Christmas."
