Notts County's new frontline duo are determined to prove their worth at Meadow Lane after becoming Ian McParland's latest additions.

Delroy Facey and Sean Canham both put pen-to-paper yesterday afternoon, and the pair are in line to make their debuts at Bradford City this weekend in the season's opening fixture.

And for Facey, 28, it has been a summer of discontent having been out of favour at Gillingham and made to train with the Youth Team - and he is very much relishing the opportunity of becoming a key player at Meadow Lane after an on-off transfer over the last few months.

"I'm more than happy to be part of Notts County Football Club now," he told nottscountyfc.co.uk.

"The saga has been running for far too long, so I'm happy it is all resolved.

"At one stage I didn't think it was going to happen, but I spoke to the Manager here on a daily basis and he told me of his intentions.

"As soon as I heard what he had to say earlier in the summer my intensions were to come here, and although it has been up and down like a yo-yo I'm here now and that is the most important thing."

His main reason to head to Meadow Lane was simple - Ian McParland, who was determined to land his man.

"The Manager really convinced me," he explained.

"I played here last season and the atmosphere was fantastic. I remember it well.

"I was on loan at Wycombe at the time, and the Notts fans were quality.

"Nottingham is a fantastic place as well, and once I spoke to the Manager he sold the Club to me with his plans and the plans of the Club."

Despite a disrupted pre-season at Gillingham, he is fit and ready for action and has declared himself available for tomorrow's curtain-raiser at Bradford.

"I'm fit and ready that's for sure," he said.

"I am not counting my chickens because I haven't been here long, so if I don't start tomorrow I hope to be on the bench. If I am, I'll be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get on the pitch and begin my Notts County career.

"I haven't set myself a target in terms of goals; I just want to keep myself fit and score as many goals as I can."

And for Canham, it is dream come true to return to the Football League after three years with Team Bath.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a prolific three-year spell with Team Bath, where he scored almost 90 goals.

"I'm delighted to be here. I'm so happy because I've waited for this opportunity for three years," he said.

"I've always wanted to get back into the Football League, and the timing is perfect as I've just graduated from University.

"I had a great time there, and I hope can do the business here like I did there.

"I scored 41 goals last season and it was a crazy season. Everything went well for me on and off the pitch."

Making the step-up from non-league to League Two is a big one, but the former Exeter City trainee is confident he can make the grade.

"It is a step up, but I'm up for it and I'll give it my all," he said.

"I've been training full-time for the last three years, so full-time training won't be something new to me.

"It is a new challenge and there might well be a few nerves when I do make my debut, but I'm sure I'll be fine."
