Notts Vs Wycombe Preview
Ian McParland's Magpies take on Wycombe Wanderers at Meadow Lane tomorrow knowing a victory over the Chairboys will secure their League Two status for another season.
It has been a long, hard season, but with Notts almost over the finishing line in terms of League survival one final push is now required before Ian McParland and his backroom team can begin their fresh preparations for next season.
It won't be easy however against Paul Lambert's promotion chasers - who are aiming for a top five finish to ensure they are at home in the second-leg of the League Two playoffs which they will be involved in next month.
With the Magpies fans in the Kop once again cheering their side on, Notts have to grasp the opportunity to secure their status - and then head to Chesterfield on the final day of the season with the pressure firmly off.
Admission prices have been reduced in the Kop Stand and also the Family Stand to just £5 for all categories as part of a local promotion in designated areas of the stadium - and the fans' support is more crucial than ever.
Notts Team News & Form
Gavin Strachan (Knee) is again out for the Magpies, and Michael Johnson (Ankle) is expected to be fit in time after coming off at half-time in last Saturday's 1-0 loss at Wrexham.
The Magpies are unbeaten at Meadow Lane in their last three outings, claiming two wins and a draw and have only lost one of their last five on home turf - and have also kept three successive clean sheets in the process.
Wycombe Wanderers Team News & Form
Wycombe are certainly without striker Leon Knight due to suspension, so Scott McGleish and Delroy Facey will continue in attack together. Goalkeeper Scott Shearer remains sidelined with an ankle injury while Matt Bloomfield remains in the treatment room with a long-term injury.
Wycombe head to Meadow Lane unbeaten in their last six games, and having won their last two games 1-0. They have suffered just one defeat away from home in 2008 and with only one defeat in nine games they are still on course for a top four finish.
Notts Man To Watch
Notts will be looking for one man to step forwards on Saturday and become a hero - and that hero could well be leading scorer Richard Butcher. The eleven-goal midfielder is the Magpies' leading scorer and has popped up with some vital goals during the campaign, and who would bet against him ending his goal drought with another vital, vital goal on Saturday.
Wycombe Wanderers Man To Watch
Scott McGleish is second in the League Two goalscorers chart behind Peterborough hot-shot Aaron McLean, and the vastly experienced striker is remaining deadly as ever well into his 30's. He has hit 26 goals this season, and found the net against the Magpies earlier in the season.
Ref Watch
Mr M Oliver is Saturday's Match Referee. He has taken charge of 27 games this season, showing 67 yellows and 5 reds over the course of the campaign.
Last Time At Meadow Lane
Last season's encounter at Meadow Lane was back in August 2006 as Junior Mendes' first-half goal secured all three points for Steve Thompson's men. Their task was made a little easier following Anthony Grant's dismissal for the visitors before the break. The two sides met three months later at Meadow Lane in the Fourth Round of the Carling Cup, with Wycombe claiming a 1-0 win thanks to Jermaine Easter's second-half strike.
Ticket Details
Magpies fans have been granted their wish in taking over the Kop Stand for this fixture, with admission being £5 for all for this crucial game. Admission is also £5 for all in the Family Stand as part of a local promotion in designated areas of the stadium, while normal matchday admission prices apply in the Jimmy Sirrel and Derek Pavis Stands. Away fans are being housed in the X Block of the Jimmy Sirrel Stand.
