Experienced midfielder Neil became Steve Thompson's first summer signing in May 2007, with Notts beating off interest from a handful of League Two teams to secure his signature.
The former Stoke trainee helped guide Scunthorpe United to the League One title last season, featuring regularly throughout the season. He also had a short loan spell at Hereford United before returning to play a prominent role in the promotion run-in.
His experience on the ball and passing abilities have made him a renowned figure in League One and League Two, and he ticked the right boxes when Steve Thompson set out on his summer search for a midfielder with his promotion experience and know-how under pressure.
